Heritage buildings represent the history and culture of a nation. They constitute together the architectural heritage of an area. Heritage buildings possess historical values resulting from their beautiful architecture and their correlation with important events in the heritage area, such as religious, social, and political events.
We recently got the opportunity to conduct a pre-condition assessment for the upgrade of Pacific Highway for Ward Civil & Environmental Engineering, which included the significant and extraordinary architectural heritage properties, which are the gems in the area Wahroonga and Warrawee. The houses were often large and imposing, sited within generous grounds incorporating large trees and formal garden layouts.
Most houses were two storeys and between the 1900s and 1940s, with brick and stone being the most common building materials. These houses play an important role in defining the landmark within the heritage area, generating an economic return, and supporting the tourism industry. Pre-condition assessment and conservation of heritage buildings is very important because it provides a sense of identity and continuity in a fast-changing world for future generations.
We at Effective Building and Consultancy respect heritage conservation across Australia and understand its pivotal role in Australian history.
